Porter's Weekend

Porter worked just as hard as Stout over the weekend at the agility trial. Well, maybe a little harder since he ran twice a day  :)

While we did not bring home any QQ's, we did earn a single Q each day. And the fault was all mine that we didn't do better... I made a handling mistake each day that resulted in either an off course or a dropped bar. Oops.

Here are a couple videos:

We barely made it into the weaves without a refusal...
Then I sent him over the double instead of through the chute...
As I was running, I wondered why I was so far away from him on the teeter. So I could pull to the chute, duh! Oh well  :)

This was a Q.

Stout's Agility Trial Debut!

We finally did it. Stout & I ran in his first agility trial!

And he did pretty darn good!

I mean, we're not talking any Q's or anything, but he didn't embarrass me out there. He actually looked like he had been trained  :)  Maybe not proofed with a lot of distractions, but he did well.

He did one Novice Jumpers with Weaves run each day:

I definitely know what I need to work on! Start lines, more weaves, rear crosses... But look at him take almost all the jumps! And once we got going, he did fantastic! I could not be any prouder  :)

I posted the video to our online classroom with Silvia Trkman to get her opinion. She said:

"Great job! He is really running -- actually waiting for you on some places! Great focus for the 1st time as well! The weaves, you made it extra difficult in the last run by front crossing before!!! You should just keep him on your right!"

I asked her if he would get faster. She said:

"Yes, to me it looks like he would go even faster if you went even faster -- What a progress since his beginnings!!!"

So I need to add that to my list of things to work on: me getting faster!  :)

Tomorrow I'll post Porter's runs. No QQ's  :(  I messed him up a couple times...

AKC Nationals: The Road Trip

Yes, I still have pictures from our trip to Nationals that I haven't shared  :)

Enjoy the rest of the road trip!

We put all our magnets we had on the car.
We were easily identified by others on our way to Tulsa :)
We even passed one lady on the interstate who sped up just so she could wave & say she was on her way too!

All packed in & ready to go

We spent the night outside Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri.
My brother did his basic training there & was recently a drill sergeant there as well.
So I had to get a photo  :)

Then Porter peed on the Roy Rogers statue.
Dally & Megan were offended.

We really only stopped because it is the McDonald's that spans the interstate  :)

Professional Videos from Nationals

If you hadn't noticed, all my videos from Nationals were filmed by Megan. And she did a great job!

But I did pay for the professional videos from 4 Legged Flix. So where are those videos?

Well, I had a little problem with their fancy, shmancy USB device:

Oops.

Weird looking USB, huh? It was the size of a business card, only a little thicker. Then that piece at the top would flip out to go into your computer.

Well, I couldn't get it to go into my computer because the card part ran into it. John told me to just pop that piece out, that all the info was on there...

I should have done a little more research before I just blindly followed his advice. Yep, the main stuff was inside the card, connected by wire running through the little swivel points. Oops.

So I broke it. Before ever getting the videos off.

I went ahead and contacted the company, on the offhand chance that they would take pity on me & send me another one. Or at least let me buy another one. But they did one better. They just emailed me the videos!  :)

So here are the professional videos. I thought I'd post them so I could tell my stupid story, and I do think they offer another view to the mistakes I made  :)

Warm-Up Round

Stout Weaves 6 Poles!

And no, this ain't no April Fool's Day joke!  :)

(I am so frustrated with my video editing software... It always crops differently when I upload it to youtube & I lose my text...)

Yay Stouters! And not a moment too soon, as he has his first agility trial this weekend!

We've still got a lot of work to do, I'm not happy with his footwork at all. Or his attention to what I'm doing. So I'll probably open them up a little and get him blasting through there so we can figure it out.

But this will get us through the weekend  :)
